Have you Checked Your Freezer for Shop Rite Burger Meat?

The recall was issued late last week, but the concern is that you may have purchased and then frozen some of the meat patties.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the public health alert because it may be contaminated with E. coli.

Several shipments of this beef from Canada was exported to the U.S.

The following products have been identified as part of the recall and were distributed in New Jersey (among other states):

8-lb. cardboard box packages containing bulk plastic-wrapped raw frozen ground beef patties labeled “ShopRite 100% PURE QUARTER POUND Ground Beef Hamburgers” and a sell-by date of 060720.

3-lb. Cardboard box packages containing plastic wrapped raw frozen ground beef patties labeled “Shop Right 100% PURE Ground Beef Hamburgers” and a sell-by date of 060720.

E. coli is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in the most severe cases, kidney failure.

The very young, seniors and persons with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.
