HBO Max has ordered a spinoff of Grease called Grease: Rydell High.

On Tuesday (October 15), WarnerMedia announced their plans to bring back the beloved 1987 musical, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. The series will be "set in and around the world of Rydell High" and reimagines the original movie with "some characters you already know, and a whole lot more you will soon meet."

As of right now, it's unclear which original characters will come back, but here's to hoping lovebirds Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson make a special cameo to sing "You’re the One That I Want!" again. We'd also love to see what happens to the rest of the gang. Are Rizzo and Kenickie still together? Did Frenchy go to beauty school?

According to HBO Max, the spinoff "is still the 1950s, a world that rocks with big musical numbers from the period combined with new original songs as well. It’s the peer pressures of high school, the horrors of puberty, and the rollercoaster of life in middle America with a modern sensibility that will bring it to life for today’s musical lovers."

“We’re going to build out the world of this show which everybody loves, in that musical style, and build basically a ‘High Shcool Musical’ kind of experience that will be a big fun rock and roll musical,” WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a statement, according to Variety.

“This is high school and life in small-town USA told on the scale of a big rock’n’roll musical,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, added. “It’s Grease 2.0 but with the same spirit, energy, and excitement you immediately think of when you hear any of these iconic songs.”

Grease: Rydell High now joins HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot and a Practical Magic prequel.
