Galloway Twp., NJ, Woman Indicted on Multiple Counts of Animal Cruelty

A woman from Galloway Township has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple counts of animal cruelty after she allegedly left five dogs unattended in a wooded area earlier this year.

45-year-old Jodi Wozniak is facing five counts of fourth-degree cruelty to animals, bodily injury, and failure to care, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.

Shill says on September 16th, his office received a call from Ofc. David LaSassa with the Galloway Township Police Department which informed them that,

"five adult dogs of German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois breed that appeared to be abandoned in the woods in the area of N. Pitney Road in Galloway. Officer LaSassa stated that some of the dogs were tethered to a tree and others were inside kennels with no food or water. The dogs — that were owned by Wozniak — had been left alone for at least 15 hours according to the owner of the property."

All of the dogs were taken to the Atlantic County Animal Shelter and put on a protective hold.

Then, on September 21st, Ofc. LaSassa contacted the prosecutor's office again, this time stating that Wozniak was in custody for allegedly trespassing back on that property following a judicial eviction order that was signed on September 13th.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
