The outbreak of fungal meningitis that has been a lingering problem in the U.S. for almost the last 2 months shows no signs of letting up yet.

In the last 2 weeks alone, there have been about another 100 cases reported nationally.  The count on this outbreak is over 400 over a span of 19 states.  31 lives have been claimed from a potentially tainted steroid produced by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts.

Four more cases have been reported in the South Jersey region, running the total in the state to 25 (with most of these victims in recovery).  The latest fungal meningitis victim in South Jersey is a 59-yr-old woman from Cumberland County.  So far no deaths have been reported in NJ from this outbreak.

SoJO previously reported where in South Jersey the steroid shot had been administered, and you can check here to see if you have signs that you (or someone who know) may have been infected.  SoJO will contiue this story as more details come to light.
