New Jersey lawmakers could soon end the ban on food and beverages in funeral homes.

If you were unaware that food and drinks were not allowed within funeral homes, don't worry you're not alone.

6abc News says a new bill is being sponsored to update funeral practices within New Jersey. Among these funeral practices is not allowing food and/or beverages within funeral homes.

The bill is to provide convenience for friends and family who travel to attend their loved one's wake. If there is food and refreshment, perhaps they are able to spend more time at the service.
New Jersey is one of the states that do not allow this because "food and bodies don't go together." Keep in mind, there is no actual public health risk since the food really is obviously not served or made in the body preparation room.

The argument arises out of the correlation between food and comfort. One side believes food can be used for comfort, whereas as president of NJ funeral homes, Louis Stellato Jr., puts it:

"I have real difficulty seeing the correlation between easing grief and a cup of Colombia roast,"
What do you think? Should New Jersey lift the food ban in funeral homes, or is it unnecessary?
