Fiance of TV Photographer Shot In Virginia From South Jersey
Adam Ward, a photographer with WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia was shot and killed today by an alleged disgruntled former employee, along with reporter Alison Parker. Ward's fiance Melissa Ott hails from South Jersey.
Melissa Ott, of Gibbstown, was celebrating her last day on the job as a morning show producer at WDBJ when the shooting took place, NBCPhiladelphia reports. Ott is a former NBC10 intern. According to Linkedin Ott is a 2011 graduate of Penn State.
27-year old Ward and 24-year old Parker were reportedly ambushed and shot to death while Parker was interviewing a woman on live TV around 6:45 a.m. A manhunt followed for the shooter, a former reporter at WDJB named Vester Flanagan who shot himself during a police pursuit. Flanagan went by the on-air name Bryce Williams. He has reportedly died from his injuries.
