You may not realize this coming holiday weekend has the biggest travel days of the year, along with the biggest party night of the year.  Be safe and smart as you head out - you should not be drinking and driving!

A fact that you may not know is that 39% of motor vehicle fatalities are alcohol related in New Jersey.  Impaired drivers kill nearly 18,000 people each year annually.

There will be some DUI checkpoints set up in South Jersey for sure this weekend.  Egg Harbor Township Police say the goal of a checkpoint this weekend is to "raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and increase enforcement visibility at a time of year known for social gatherings and alcohol consumption".

The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Black Horse Pike by the Shore Mall will be a DUI checkpoint on Friday night starting at 9pm (between Tilton and Uibel Avenue).

One DUI arrest can cost you on many levels - fines can be as high as $1000 for a 1st offense, that could include 30 days incarceration, license suspended for 3 months, and state DMV surcharges that will cost $3000 ($1000 a year for 3 years).

Do yourself and everybody else a favor - don't drink and drive!
