A lot of interesting names have been brought up in conversation when asking who should replace Gabed Kapler as the Phillies next manager.

A couple of names that have not come up are former Phillies Lenny Dykstra and Curt Schilling, but both seem interested in being the teams next manager.

Schilling was a member of the very popular 1993 Phillies team that made it to the World Series before falling in six games to the Blue Jays.  Overall he spent nine seasons in Philadelphia, but has coaching experience.

“I think it’s one of the few openings since I left that I 'fit,' " Schilling told USA TODAY Sports in a text message of the Phillies job. “I know the city. I know the fans and I know the expectations.’’

He was a ESPN MLB analyst for a couple of season starting in 2010, working on Sunday Night Baseball.

Another former Phillies player from the 93 team, Lenny Dykstra has expressed his interest in the job through Twitter.

Former manger Gabe Kapler was let go by the Phillies on Thursday.
