Burlington City Police Department surprised first, second, and third graders with a special book delivery just in time for Christmas.

How sweet is this! After a special event this month reading 'The Giving Tree' to students, police officers make a second visit to deliver copies for the children!

Thanks to the Detective Matthew L. Tarentino Community Policing Grant from the NJ Attorney General's Office, Burlington City PD was able to hold these events. Check out the heartwarming scene courtesy of 6abc News below:

The events were held as a way for children to form a  relationship with police officers. Officer Robert Perro tells 6abc News, "We want the kids to know if there's a problem and they see a police officer that, you know, I've seen him before, I can go to him talk to him."

As the daughter of a detective, I'm happy to see children see police officers create a positive bond with our police officers. They're our protectors, as well as people just like us!

Beautiful job, Burlington City PD!
