A Brigantine Police officer answering a call Monday about a lost dog, ended up rescuing the animal as it held on to a bulkhead pole partially submerged in the chilly water of Brigantine Bay.

According to a post on the Brigantine Facebook page, Officer Sweet responded to a call about helping an owner find his lost dog, when the officer found the dog, estimated at more than 200 pounds, clinking on to a pole on the bulkhead with his front paws.

With help from Sea Tow Atlantic City, the officer was able to pull the dog from the cold water and reunite him with his family.  Well done, officer!
