The body of one of two teenagers who went missing after struggling in a strong rip current off of an Atlantic City beach last week has been recovered and identified.

According to a press release from the Atlantic City Police Department, a Margate police officer located a body on the beach at Jefferson Avenue in Margate around 5:00 Monday morning. An autopsy identified the body as that of 16-year-old Kaliyah Hand of Atlantic City. Hand’s family has been notified.

It was on the evening of June 15th that Hand was in the ocean near Kentucky Avenue in Atlantic City when the teen was pulled out to sea by a rip current. 15-year-old Ramon Quinn attempted to rescue Hand but also struggled in the water. Both were eventually pulled under.

First responders arrived in less than two minutes and began a search. Over the past few days, numerous agencies, including the Coast Guard, State Police, and a local dive team searched the shore by helicopter, from the beach, and from the ocean. Crews continue to look for Quinn's body.
