For the first time since 1944, the largest instrument ever built played a loud and historic note.

The first noon time playing of the organ at Boardwalk Hall brought music to the ears of many, and will continue to do so by playing free concerts from now until September.

Seven years ago, Dr. Ball began the restoration of the organ and brought it to 20 percent operational.  There is still a long road to full restoration, as Dr. Ball hopes to raise 16 million dollars in the next ten years! A long road indeed.  Regardless, it's nice to hear the sounds of the organ again.

According to NBC 40, 'Boardwalk Hall also anticipates another 15% of the organ coming on line this summer and hope to have the left side of the instrument operating in time for the Miss America Pageant.'
