Last Thursday morning, AT&T's network went down Thursday morning.

It was a serious headache for more than 74,000 customers who couldn't make calls, send text messages, or access the internet.

Even certain T-Mobile and Verizon users reported being affected by AT&T's outage.

The AT&T outage reportedly related to an issue about how calls are transferred between networks.

In a statement, AT&T CEO John Stankey explained, "Our initial review of the cause of Thursday’s outage indicates it was due to the application and execution of an incorrect process used while working to expand our network."

AT&T has reportedly issued a $5 refund to the account of customers inconvenienced by last Thursday's outage, according to People.com. That's reportedly "the average cost of a full day of service", says AT&T.

There are some exclusions to the credit, though, as it won't apply to AT&T Business, AT&T Prepaid or Cricket.

While all service had been restored by mid-afternoon on Thursday, People.com reports, Stankey couldn't promise customers a disruption in couldn't happen again, writing, “This is not our first network outage, and it won’t be our last – unfortunately, it’s the reality of our business. "What matters most is how we react, adapt, and improve to deliver the service our customers need and expect.”
