Sooooo.....a big rock at 17,400 mph is heading our way....

 

But there's no need to panic.

 

It's not going to make any kind of impact, but it will give Mother Earth a 'close shave'.

 

According to Yahoo, 'The 150-foot-wide asteroid will zoom within 17,200 miles (27,700 kilometers) of our planet on Feb. 15'

 

This will give researchers a Valentine's Day gift, as they will have a close and intimate encounter with the rock, giving them plenty of observation and study.

 

People can actually see the rock as a 'beam of light' through binoculars and telescopes, but only if you're in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Australia.

 

In other words, when it comes to space encounters, we have the short end of the stick again.
