After 32 years, justice may finally have come for Susan Negersmith, who was allegedly raped and killed in Wildwood in 1990.

The Carmel, New York native was visiting the Jersey Shore town for Memorial Day Weekend, according to 6abc.com. But, 20-year-old Negersmith met with foul play. She had been raped and murdered, her lifeless body discovered behind a storage area in Wildwood on May 27, 1990.

Initially, Negersmith's death was ruled as 'accidental'. It was eventually changed to 'homicide' three years later, move family members had been desperate for, 6abc reports.

Now, it appears DNA evidence has cracked this cold case. DNA Technology and Genetic Genealogy Analysis reportedly lead investigators to Jerry Rosado, who was arrested Friday, Cape May County Prosecutor's Office reports. Rosado is now a 62-year-old man living in Millville.

But, Rosado is not yet technically on the hook for Susan Negersmith's murder, however, he has been formally charged with second-degree sexual assault.

It's amazing what DNA and genealogy is doing to shed light on decades-old cases like Susan's. We hope The Negersmith Family will finally get the closure they've needed for so long.

**Jerry Rosado has not been tried in a court of law yet, and is innocent until proven guilty.
