The competition in Atlantic City to land top-flight musical acts is in its fiercest phase in the areas history.  The upcoming opening of Revel has changed the playing field, with casinos now upping the ante (no pun intended) to get acts that will entertain and create excitement.  Mark April 14th on your calender for one band that guarantees a good time - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy!

Kudos to the Golden Nugget for bringing "The Kings of Swing" down to Atlantic City.  BBVD (as their fans have called them) has brought their retro-swing style to audiences for over 20 years, and their live shows have made their reputations stand out as something not to miss.

The band struggled in the early 90s without a record label, releasing 2 CDs out on their own and touring constantly wherever they can play.  The big break happened in 1996 when then a relatively unknown Jon Favreau wrote the cult-classic film Swingers - launching Vince Vaughn as an actor ("You're so money and you don't even know it!"), and exposing BBVD to the world with songs like "You and Me and The Bottle Makes 3" and "Go Daddy-O".  Check out how young Favreau, Vaughn and Heather Graham look in this scene:

BBVD has also taken a holiday classic and made it one of the most fun tunes to enjoy during the Christmas season.  Their 2004 version of "The Heatmiser" is one that will be a classic for years to come:

The Golden Nugget Showroom will open its doors at 8pm on April 14th, and tickets are available now (you can book on-line).  Don't forget to check out the renovations that the Golden Nugget have done (photos look fabulous) when you are there, and be listening to SoJO starting on Monday on Heather DeLuca's All-Request Drive-Thru to be winning tickets to this incredibly cool night of music.
