Is the worst over for jobs lost in the Atlantic City casino industry? That seems to be the conclusion of Casino Control Commission Chairman Matthew Levinson, in an interview with the Press of Atlantic City.

Levinson has surveyed the city's casinos concerning their expected hiring and found a noticeable increase in available jobs in 2016, compared with 2015.

"Last year he surveyed the city’s eight gambling halls and found 1,400 openings.

This year, “I was surprised to find out that the casinos were looking to hire close to 2,400 people,” he said Thursday."

900 of the casino jobs will be permanent and 600 of those are full-time opportunities, according to Levinson, who believes this shows a stabilization of the Atlantic City casino industry after nine years of declining revenues.

All of the remaining casinos turned a profit in 2015
