1700 Pound White Shark ‘Pings’ Off of Cape May Coastline
A 1,700-pound shark was tracked off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey this past Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
The adult white shark was pinged just after 10:00 p.m., according to a report filed by the shark research group OCEARCH.
There has not been a definitive report as to exactly how far the shark was swimming off of the Cape May coastline.
It’s an adult male shark that measures 13 feet and 7 inches and weighs 1,701 pounds.
This makes it the largest male shark tagged by OCEARCH in Canadian waters.

The shark was also tagged in Nova Scotia in October, 2020 and spotted in March, 2021 off the coast of North Carolina.
