You Shouldn't Volunteer This Thanksgiving

Don't volunteer at a soup kitchen this Thanksgiving! That's the advice some volunteer organizations are giving this Thanksgiving and holiday season.

However; it's not quite what it sounds like.

It turns out that A LOT of people volunteer to help charities serve meals on Thanksgiving, but not the rest of the year. Some charities have to turn away volunteers on Thanksgiving day and encourage them to come back throughout the year - when the holiday hype isn't so high.

So to recap: Volunteering is great, but just spread it out, throughout the year. It's an interesting problem that I never really realized before!
