This past weekend, Holy Spirit in Absecon hosted 18 high school basketball games during the 2023 Seagull Classic.

There were a ton of great games, featuring some great plays and moments, but none might have been better than this alley-oop dunk from Mainland senior Mawali Osunniyi in a game against Elizabeth.

The play happened with Mainland leading 49-44 with 3:46 left in the game. Mustangs junior Cohen Cook took the inbounds pass and quickly dribbled the ball up the floor as Osunniyi ran up the opposite sideline.

Cook saw his teammate and right inside the right-ring three-point line, Cook lofted up an alley-oop pass that Osunniyi caught and threw down a thunderous dunk. It was impressive because the pass and catch were perfectly made and Osunniyi had the ability to catch and finish with authority.

Cook, Osunniyi and the Mustangs won the game, 52-48. using that dunk to help grab the momentum and end the game with an impressive run.

Mainland has been one of the top teams in the Cape-Atlantic League and in South Jersey this season.  They are a well-coached, fun and exciting team and could be a huge factor in the upcoming CAL tournament.

They are the defending CAL champions, winning last season as the No. 8 seed over St. Augustine.  There is a good chance the two teams could meet again in this year's tournament.
