There are so many different roadways in our beloved state, from the Garden State Parkway to the Black Horse Pike and the A.C. Expressway. Oh, and let's not forget about Rt. 9 and Rt. 40!

It seems like we're always dealing with tons of traffic, so it's hard to imagine any road in New Jersey being the least traveled.

According to Thrilist, there is one particular road in our state that would qualify as such. The folks at GPS software firm, Geotab, did the calculations and put together an interactive map of the U.S. to highlight the least traveled road in every single state.

The criteria used to determine each state's ranking included routes and interstates that were at least 10 miles or longer. Data was also compiled from the Highway Performance Monitoring System and the Annual Daily Traffic score.

So back to the least traveled road in New Jersey -- it's Route 49!

According to Wikipedia, Rt. 49, located in South Jersey, runs for over 53 miles and it forms an interchange with the Delaware Memorial Bridge extension on the New Jersey Turnpike in Deepwater located in Salem County. Rt. 49 turns into Rt. 130 to Rt. 50 and eventually turns into Rt. 557 in Tuckahoe. (Whew!)

I've been in all parts of our state and traveled on so many different roads from North to Central to South Jersey. I'm really not sure if I've ever been on Rt. 49 though!

Let us know if Rt. 49 is part of your daily commute!
