My son's soccer team was told they had to stop scoring!

My son's team was winning 7-2 at halftime of their soccer game, and his coach told them that they were going to have to stop trying to score until the other team caught up.

Reason: The Mercy Rule.

Apparently, one team can't be winning by more than 5 points, so you have to take your foot off the gas pedal until they catch up.

My son had the opportunity to score more in the game, but was confused and bummed out that he was to to stop trying to score.

I explained the rule to him and he said to me, "But Dad, that's not fair to us!".

What is YOUR opinion out the "Mercy Rule" in kid's sports? Is the rule that is trying to promote fairness, actually unfair? Take The Mike Show Poll!
