SJ Teacher Hosts BBQ to Give Back to Students & Community in Need
You may recognize Matt Groark as the South Jersey teacher that helped lift spirits across the nation with a heart melting story of kindness and giving back, just last month. In a gist, during a time of hardship, Mr. Groark's students wanted to help him pick his head up by raising money to send him to a Sixers game.
And as you can see in the video above, the 11th grade teacher of Washington Township High School is always looking to give back to those who have selflessly helped him the most in times of need. Which is why Mr. Groark is all ready for the next big way to give back to the community and families in need, just as he was!
Aside from teaching, Mr. Groark loves to cook--BBQ! And as seen in the message above, the power of social media has helped Mr. Groark become recognized on Instagram for his cooking passion.
When you have leftovers you make @kingshawaiian Pulled Pork Sammy’s . . . Crosby and Stills were running on some Primal Cat Instinct and ready to pounce! Both licking their chops! I’ll take that as a compliment! . . . #BBQ #pitbarrel #teampitbarrel #caribeque #food #grillmaster #smokemaster #reallife #ribs #meatlife #sammy #outdoorkitchen #rublife #bbqrub #teamcaribeque #bbqfamily #cheflife #cookingwithfire #outdoorcooking #pitmaster #goodfood #bbqfood #dinner #tasty #foodporn #bbqfam #family #summer #sloppymonkey #sloppykitty
In which case, Mr. Groark is looking to host a school-wide fundraiser with a cook out! As a registered volunteer with OPERATION BBQ RELIEF, who provides meals for displaced families during natural disaster events, Mr. Groark is hoping to make this event bigger and better than ever to give back to those who have helped him, and also those in need.
A company in California called Premier Meat Company has recognized the teacher through social media, and wanted to contribute to his efforts by donating all of the meat for the BBQ. However, anticipating over 200 people at this event, Mr. Groark is hoping to raise some funds for a bigger cooker that will allow him to prepare enough food for the size of this community event. With a goal of $3,000, any money raised over the goal will be donated to Operation Smile to help pay for cleft surgeries for children in need!
Mr. Groark's oldest son, Aidric, was born with Cleft Lip and Palate. He also has a younger son named Nash -- Both of which are the inspiration for Matt Groark's future aspirations of owning a company that he would like to call “My2BoysBBQ”
As an added bonus: If the goal is reached, to say Thank You for those who donate, Matt Groark will give away 2 Club Box tickets to a 2018-2019 Philadelphia Eagles Game Pre-Season game!
