Remembering Avicii: 4 Essential Songs For Your Playlist
With the sad news breaking today of DJ/Producer Avicii's passing (real name Tim Bergling), the music industry and fans around the world are in a state of shock and sadness.
Avicii retired from live performances back in 2016 but still continued to work in the studio with other artists, DJs, and record producers.
We decided to honor the late DJ in our own way by taking a look at his large catalog of songs and giving you the best of Avicii to add to your playlist.
From his debut studio album True (2013), "Hey Brother sees Avicii giving some words of wisdom to his brother. Dan Tyminksi, an American bluegrass singer is on vocals and strongly stands out throughout the track.
2014's The Days / Nights EP gave us this progressive house hit that features a ton of folk rock elements. Nicholas Furlong, a songwriter on the track said this started out as an "ode to his father."
Even though this is a Coldplay song, it is just as much an Avicii song. This, like many, features Avicii's talent as a record producer and songwriter. The song charted inside the top 10 in over 16 countries and was even nominated for a Grammy in 2015.
Probably one of, if not Avicii's biggest hit, "Wake Me Up" is how I feel right now, hoping this is all a dream. Soul singer Aloe Black provides the vocals on this mega hit and really propelled the Swedish DJ into super stardom.
