At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian says there are as many as six potential buyers for Revel Casino Hotel.

Guardian also said Showboat has potential buyers but he did not say how many. He said he did not know of any potential buyers for Trump Plaza.

As for the southern end of the city, Guardian also says his administration has been in talks with TJM Properties, the new owners of the former Atlantic Club Casino, about selling it to a new buyer, but it's unknown whether it could become a casino again since a deed restriction has been placed on the facility by Caesars. TJM bought the Atlantic Club from Caesars at the end of May and had planned to reopen it as a non-casino hotel.

The press conference was held today following a lunch between Guardian, state Senate President Steve Sweeney, and Sen. Jim Whelan. The three reportedly talked about the possibility of allowing a casino to open in the Meadowlands. Sweeney has said he is open to letting voters decide next year whether to amend the state Constitution and permit casinos in towns other than Atlantic City. Under proposals being considered by state officials, the operator of a casino at the Meadowlands race track would be taxed at a higher rate than Atlantic City casinos and some revenue would be returned to Atlantic City.
