Police Involved Shooting Claims the Life of One Atlantic City Man

Shots were fired near the 1100 block of Drexel Avenue yesterday afternoon.

According to The Press of Atlantic City:

Police confronted a male, later identified as Shawn Brown, 20.

During the subsequent confrontation, officers shot Brown, who was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigation indicates that three plainclothes officers were involved in the confrontation with Brown, who was armed with a handgun. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the scene.

The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office is currently investigating the incident, as well as collecting any existing video of the confrontation.
