Mathew Vanderbeek, a 19 year-old Ocean County student, has been charged and taken into custody for allegedly threatening a mass shooting at his high school graduation.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's office have since taken him in for questioning. They also reaffirm the public that there is no threat at the graduation.

The police immediately searched his home with a warrant to find any dangerous weapons or any incriminating evidence that lead back to a shooting. The investigation led to the discovery of Vanderbeek trying to get a firearm.

Vanderbeek allegedly made threats to shoot teachers and students on graduation day at New Egypt High School on social media, according to the prosecutor's office.

He is facing numerous charges including 3rd degree Terroristic Threats along with a Threat to Kill and 2nd degree Attempting to Possess a Firearm for an unlawful purpose.

Vanderbeek is currently being at the Ocean County jail with a detention hearing pending.
