Eighth-graders at Friends School Mullica Hill helped laws to lower the speed limit after expressing their concerns to their Mayor during a school visit.

And kudos to them for speaking up!

NJ.com says that during Mayor Lou Manzo's annual visit to the eighth-grade class, students expressed their concern over speeding cars in front of their school on High Street. Because of their concern, the township committee adopted an ordinance Monday, lowering the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph.

This new 25 mph speed limit is set in place during recess time, or while children are coming and going to school.

According to NJ.com, students were happy to see their concerns resulted in swift action. Now, younger Friends students are encouraged to think about what the community needs. This way, when the mayor visits again, they can present their ideas.

Way to go! It's great to see young children take action!
