Did Breaking Up with Justin Bieber Put Selena Gomez in Rehab?

Sources confirm that pop star Selena Gomez spend two weeks in rehab last month.  Could her tumultuous breaking up/making up with Justin Bieber be the reason Selena sought treatment?

21-year old Gomez was quietly admitted to Dawn at the Meadows in Arizona on back on January 5th, according to People.com. The facility reportedly treats young patients for a number of addictions.

Reps for Selena emphasize the singer is not struggling with drugs or alcohol.  And that her admission to rehab was voluntary.

“It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” Selena said in a statement.

Back in December, something forced Gomez to cancel the entire Australian leg of her recent tour, but no explanation was given.

So could her breakup from Justin Bieber be a catalyst?  Maybe Selena is under so much stress (and press) from watching Bieber’s downward spiral, or perhaps she got caught up in it far deeper than we know.

At the time, a friend of the star added that Gomez needed a break from her busy acting and touring schedule.

“She’s been working nonstop since she was 15 and she wants to take a minute to herself,” the source said.
