The CDC has released a new report advising women to not drink if they are not using birth control, especially if you're sexually active.

For sexually active women between the ages 15-44, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) doesn't want you drinking if you are not on some kind of birth control.

We all know that consuming alcohol while pregnant can harm the developing fetus. We also know, that when it comes to unplanned pregnancies most women do not even know that they are pregnant within the first month. Drinking alcohol within the first month may pose a risk for the fetus known as 'fetal alcohol syndrome'.

Now, I'm pretty sure I have seen articles that say wine and beer in VERY SMALL dosages do not pose a threat during pregnancy. But, the CDC report says there isn't a 'safe amount' of alcohol.

Although, I'm not so sure how many young women will actually not drink despite this advisory.

What do you think? Is this overly cautious or is this something women should be mindful of?
