Can the Philadelphia 76ers win the 2020-21 Eastern Conference title, and go to the NBA Finals for the first time in two decades?

Maybe.

The Miami Heat just won the Eastern Conference title in late September, and gave the Lakers a battle in the 2020 NBA Finals.

But honestly, does anyone think this team is going to be able to come out of what has now become a more loaded East?

The Milwaukee Bucks, sick of losing early in the playoffs, and trying to tie down two-time reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to a long term deal, traded for Jrue Holiday. The Boston Celtics dominated the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, sweeping Philly out 4-0.

Of course, Brooklyn gets Kevin Durant on the floor with Kyrie Irving, and maybe another player soon via trade. Plus, you have the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors.

Currently, the 76ers are the sixth choice with sports books to win the Eastern Conference crown, at BetMGM NJ oddsof +1200. They are ahead of the Atlanta Hawks (+4000), who no one thinks has a shot to win the title, and behind joint favorites Brooklyn and Milwaukee (both with odds of +220), the Celtics (+650), the Heat (+750), and the Raptors (+900).

The Process, if it is still alive, is in grave danger, and could be on life support. The 76ers went 43-30 last season and finished third in the Atlantic Division, but now look to be the fourth best team in the division. By the way, Philly’s over under for the season is set at 43, the same number they recorded last year in one more game than the 76ers will play this season.

If you had $100 to wager on one team to win the East, would you put that money on Philadelphia.

Neither would I.

Even with Daryl Morey in charge, and the 76ers are better this year, do you have confidence that they can win three playoff series? The Houston Rockets had an MVP in 20178-2018, and have not been to the NBA Finals since 1995. Morey will help, but he is not the savior.

I would rather put my money on one of the two favorites, either Milwaukee or Brooklyn, and roll with two of the top five players in the NBA.

But if you think this is the 76ers year, and +1200 is a pretty good number.
