Bye Bye Beach Tags in 2013? [POLL]

Beach Tag

Will New Jersey’s beaches be free this summer? It could happen…..

State Senator Michael Doherty of Somerset County is putting his foot down.

He told NBC40, “I consider beach fees an unfair barrier to all citizens from using something they pay to maintain and rebuild.”

Hurricane Sandy certainly put an effect on the Jersey Shore, thus the revenue from beach tags could help restoring the shore.

The senator has a solution, by requiring shore communities using federal or state money to rebuild their beaches after Hurricane Sandy to provide free beach access to the public.

Sound fair?

Then again, I’ve always been against the beach tag policy.  Why should you have to pay to lay on the beaches of South Jersey?  Just my opinion.

Do you agree with the senator?  What do you think about the idea of beach tags going away?  Take our poll and feel free to comment below….
