Over the past couple of years, tattoos have gained tons of mainstream awareness and are now accepted by society more than they ever were before. With that being said, there are tons of people from South Jersey who take a lot of pride in the meaning, artwork, and dedication of the tattoos they get.

After paying a couple visits to the shore this summer, I've noticed an ongoing pattern of tattoos, which led me to create this list of common tattoos you may find down the Jersey Shore.

    E.A.G.L.E.S.!!!

Some say that if you hold a conch shell up to your ear, you can still hear Eagles fans spelling out their team name. If you go to any beach in South Jersey this summer, you'll probably spot more than one of these tattoos. Even if you don't see one, you'll definitely hear an Eagles chant.

    Rick and Morty

Amongst all other new-age cartoon shows featured on Adult Swim, Rick and Morty without a doubt has the most dedicated fanbase - so dedicated that so many fans of this cult-favorite get images from it tattooed on their bodies. I've never given the show a chance, but I've seen snippets of it to the point where I can recognize a Rick and Morty tattoo if I see one...and I've seen a LOT of them the past year.

The actual state of New Jersey

A classic stereotype of people from Jersey is how much pride we take in our state...which is kinda true. We are very prideful, but there are a lot of residents that either love or hate New Jersey. You'll find tattoos like this on the people that love the Garden State a little more than the average resident.

    Anchor

A classic design, the anchor tattoo resembles security and steadfastness. Traditionally, sailors in the US Navy would acquire these tattoos after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Whether or not they are associated with the Navy, love for the ocean, strength, secureness or some other meaning, you are bound to find an anchor tattoo at the Jersey Shore.

    Flowers/Floral Designs

So many people who live in the Garden State all share a common bond: love for nature. One of the most common tributes to the beauty of nature in tattoo form is a tattoo of a flower(s). If you went to the Jersey Shore and didn't spot a single tattoo of a flower, pay your local eye doctor a visit.

    Hamsa

A hamsa is an ancient Middle Eastern amulet symbolizing the "Hand of God," which is commonly associated with luck, health, and good fortune. A far as religious tattoos go, I feel as if lately I've seen this symbol more than I've seen the traditional praying hands and cross/Jesus tattoos. Hit the Shore this summer and I'm sure you'll see one or two, too.
