Peanut and peanut butter lovers are dealt a blow today as many major supermarkets in New Jersey (and other places) are dealing with a recall due to salmonella illness.

Major stores in our area like Giant, Whole Foods, Safeway, Target, and Stop & Shop (to name a few) are pulling peanut products from Sunland Inc. out of New Mexico as a precaution to customers since an outbreak of 30 reported cases of salmonella illness in 19 states because of peanut based products that came from Trader Joe's brand of peanut butter.

Sunland pulled all brands of their products that were "manufactured on the same equipment as the Trader Joe's product". Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valenica Peanut Butter has been the culprit in all of the salmonella cases so far.

Sunland's recall includes 101 products, and you can find exactly what products have been recalled by clicking here.
