One of the most prestigious NBA franchises is in need of a head coach, the Los Angeles Lakers are back to square one after Sixers assistant Monty Williams signed to be the next head coach with the Suns, and discussions with Ty Lue broke down.

One local name that is being interviewed for the vacant position is Wildwood's Frank Vogel.

Vogel has plenty of NBA head coaching experience, as he has previously served as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic. He had a solid run as the head coach for the Pacers, reaching the playoff fives times in six seasons, but his time in Oflando didn't go as well, going 54-110 during his two seasons with the young, rebuilding Magic team.

Vogel's team are known to play strong defense, his team's advanced to the Eastern Conference finals in 2013 and 2014 before losing to the big-three, LeBron James-led Miami Heat.

He does have some Lakers ties, working for the Lakers as an advance scout from 2005-06. He was a part of Jim O’Brien with the Sixers for one season before he left for the Pacers in 2007.

Vogel flew out to LA yesterday to meet with the Lakers brass.
