Where to Go Apple Picking in South Jersey 2016
Peak apple-picking season is right around the corner, so make sure you're ready with our handy guide for fall 2016!
JerseyFresh suggests September 1- October 25 as the most active time for picking your own apples.
It's always smart to call the orchard before you visit to make sure they're open and have apples ready for picking! (This is especially true because depending on where you are in South Jersey, you'll have to travel a bit for most of these orchards!)
Also keep in mind, many orchards and farms are cash only.
Cape May County
Stiles Farm & Nursery in Cape May Court House has apples and other fruit available for picking. Open Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check their Facebook page for availability.
Gloucester County
Mood's Farm Market in Mullica Hill has a variety of apples, depending on the time of year. They're open from Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. You must bring a sturdy bucket or box to collect apples; no bags allowed.
Hill Creek Farms in Mullica Hill has about a dozen varieties of apples available, but due to lack of available crops from bad weather earlier this year, won't offer apple picking until September 8th. Open Monday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (856) 223-0028 for availability.
Ocean County
Krowicki's Farm Market & Greenhouse on Rt. 539 in New Egypt also offers multiple varieties of apples, open daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. through October 31st. Call (609) 752-5591 for availability.
Happy picking! Bring on the cobbler and pies!
