Officials now say it was a mother of three children who drowned in the surf off of North Wildwood Tuesday.

Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to 18th Street in North Wildwood at 3PM Tuesday after they received a 911 call about a group of four swimmers in distress, according to 6ABC.

In an updated press release Wednesday morning, authorities now say the three people that were rescued were an 8 and 10-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman. The drowning victim was a 49-year-old woman, who was the mother of the three children. All four are from Wernersville, PA, which is a small town of about 3,000 people that's just west of Reading.

The incident remains under investigation and the victim’s name is being withheld.
