Two Local Teams Among Favorites for USFL Title: Will New Jersey or Philadelphia Do iI?

Last year saw the return of the USFL for the first time since the mid-1980s.

Right from the first minute, fans and bettors flocked to spring football, after what might have been the most exciting National Football League campaign of all time.

In 2023, the USFL returned, just as the XFL headed into its playoff run, as it also returned to the late winter/early spring calendar.

That is a lot of football!

2022 was a pretty momentous season: the New Jersey Generals won the North Division, beating out the Philadelphia Stars (who won two of the original three titles in Philadelphia and Baltimore). But the Stars won the playoff contest, making the championship: they ultimately fell 33-30 to the Birmingham Stallions in the final.  

It is no surprise, then, that those three teams lead the way with New Jersey online sports betting sites to win the 2023 USFL title. After two weeks of play, the Stallions were one of three 2-0 teams, and had the best odds (+220) to win the championship.

Both Philadelphia and New Jersey, who sat at 1-1 after two weeks–behind the 2-0 Michigan Panthers–had been getting some backing from bettors: the Stars are currently the second favorite with odds of +350, while the Generals had odds of +450.    

Unlike last season, when the regular season games were played in Birmingham, Alabama, this campaign has games in four different cities. Teams are playing games at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, Protective Stadium in Birmingham, and also at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.

Will we soon get to see our local teams playing in New Jersey and Philadelphia? 

Hopefully.

For now, though, it might be enough to see one of them win a title in early July, after the 10-week regular season ends on June 17-18.
