Trips on the Garden State Parkway will cost you more starting later this summer.

Commissioners with The New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which oversees the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike, voted Wednesday to increase tolls 27% on the Parkway and 36% on the Turnpike.

According to northjersey.com, tolls at most of the main plazas on the Parkway will increase from $1.50 to $1.90 and tolls at various on and off-ramps, which range from $.50 to $1.50 now, will increase to $.65 to $1.90.

The toll increases will help to pay for nearly $24 billion worth of projects on both roads.

If you travel the length of the New Jersey Turnpike, cars will soon pay nearly $19 while big trucks will pay over $77.

The new toll rates are set to begin in September, according to bloomberg.com.
