When it comes to paying our teachers, the great Garden State sits on both sides of the pay scale.

In some areas, you could be making well over the median salary of New Jersey teachers, and in others it could be vice-versa.

Last school year that salary was $67,812. But there are some school districts that make less than that. More than 100 school districts had a salary below $60,000 and some even below $50,000.

Now of course salaries vary depending on obvious things such as location, skills, certifications, and experience, just like in any other job. And different parts of the state also have different ‘economies’ as well, some areas can be more expensive or cheaper to live in when it comes to taxes.

But for South Jersey, the school district with the lowest median salary is Dennis Township, with a median teacher salary of $50,093.
