For the record, we are ALL guilty of this, and now we have a name for what we do.

Have you ever broke up with an ex (yes) but still checked up on them on them for weeks after the breakup (yessss)?

That my friend, is called orbiting. That is, the act of keeping tabs and engaging your ex on social media. Told you we all do this whether we want to admit it or not. Psychotherapist Lisa Bratemen, LCSW said "orbiting is unhealthy for you because you're staying attached to your ex by keeping up with them on social media."

Relationship coach and clinical psychologist Wendy Walsh goes on to say if you were the dumpee, you need to “literally unfriend, unfollow completely."

Yeah, but that is easier said then done if you were truly in love with that person.

Breaking up is never easy, whether you are the one doing the breaking up or are on the other side of it. Social media etiquette is still a huge factor that plays in our lives, so the same rules apply as if it were in real life.

Giving someone space and moving on is in the best interest of both parties.

I officially call this an 'anti-orbiting zone' from here on out.
