These Foods Are Banned In Other Countries But In New Jersey We’re Getting Seconds

It was pretty enlightening when I found out that certain foods are perfectly OK for us to consume here in New Jersey but they are banned in other countries around the world. Maybe we need to pay more attention to what those guys are eating because I promise you people in Norway are living longer than we do in the USA.

Is this real life?  Is our chicken being washed with pool water?  Basically, the answer to that is yes.  They are not playing that game in Europe.

The folks that regulate those sorts of things feel it will reduce food-borne illness which I’m sure that is true but doesn’t cooking also do that?  I’m sure baking chlorinated compounds into your meat is not healthy either. 

Europe asks the question if we let them use chlorine to purify the meat, will that lead to lazy clean-up practices in meat plants because there is this "we’ve got it covered with the chlorine spray" practice?  Excellent question.

Here is another little known ban. Little Debbie snack cakes look innocent enough.  After all, the sweet little girl on the package looks happy enough. Well, according to the website Ranker.com, this snack is banned in Europe as well.  In particular, I’m talking Swiss Cake Rolls (which are delish right out of the freezer by the way). Apparently, there are two dyes used in production (Yellow 5 and Red 40) and in Austria and Norway, say that's bad news bears (in more mature terms, they feel it causes illness over the long term).

Do you feel like having an ice-cold Coke over the weekend?  Well just know that in both North Korea and Cuba they are not sharing a Coke. This is not due to nutrition, it is more due to a  trade embargo agreement between those countries and the U.S.of A. Although, Coke does clean my toilet to a spectacular shine.  I'll leave it there.
