Are you dreaming of a white Christmas this year in South Jersey?

The experts define 'White Christmas' as having at least one inch of the white stuff on the ground come Christmas Day.

We now have about 30 days until Christmas, so, I thought it was about time to check the odds of a South Jersey White Christmas for 2021 on the website Will I Get A White Christmas?

Last year at this time there was also a 50% percent chance of snow in the Atlantic City area for December 25th. It turned out that it did not snow on Christmas. The last widespread white Christmas in New Jersey occurred in 2009.

Some isolated areas of the Garden State had a light coating of snow on the ground on Christmas morning other years since then, but it wasn’t wide enough to be considered a true white Christmas in New Jersey.

Have faith, though, snow lovers! If the Old Farmer's Almanac is to be believed, South Jersey is in for a stormy winter with frigid temperatures and above-average snowfall.

The 230-year-old publication has released its 2021-22 winter predictions with a map showing anticipated seasonal conditions across the United States.

“This coming winter could well be one of the longest and coldest that we’ve seen in years,” said Janice Stillman, editor of The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

For now, we will take the word of the website Will I Get A White Christmas?, that a South Jersey white Christmas looks to be a 50/50 proposition.

Keep your fingers crossed.
