St. Paddy’s Day or Any Day – The Best Irish Bars in South Jersey
It is time for the wearing of the green -- St. Patrick's Day, 2021 is here! What better place to celebrate than in an Irish pub, socially distanced, of course.
I thought it was high time for me to update my 2014 look at Irish pubs around South Jersey, with a new look at the pubs and Irish bars in Atlantic and Cape May counties that have an Irish theme.
Here are the eight best Irish pubs or bars in South Jersey
1- Keenan's Irish Pub, 113 Olde New Jersey Ave, North Wildwood. Just opening for the season last Friday, with an Irish pub atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and drinks.
2-Ri Ra, The Quarter at the Tropicana, Atlantic City. Ri Ra in the Quarter opened in 2005. Ri Ra serves lunch and dinner with an Irish Bistro approach. Ri Ra is a great place to have your favorite Irish beverage while watching a good live band. Hopefully we can do that again very soon!
3- O'Donnell's Pour House, 3915 Landis Ave, Sea Isle City. Take your taste buds on a tour of Ireland with classic bangers and mash or shepherd’s pie, or try some Irish whiskey or a pint of Guinness.
4- Irish Pub, 164 St. James Place, Atlantic City. This nostalgic former speakeasy with low lighting, typical fare & antique bar pouring beers & whiskeys is an Atlantic City favorite. The Irish Pub in Atlantic City also features a Victorian Inn on the floors above the pub.
5- Delaney's Irish Pub & Grille, 400 Washington St, Cape May. Delaney's menu consists not only of pub-type food, but real, traditional, authentic Irish dishes and more, plus Irish whiskey, Irish beer and Irish flair cocktails.
6- Josie Kelly's Public House, 908 Shore Rd, Somers Point. Dermot from Josie Kelly's say the Irish food and beverage industry has changed. It’s no longer limited to meat, potatoes and pints of beer. Josie Kelly’s emulates what’s going on in Ireland today and stays true to the traditions of the Irish pub.
7- Anglesea Pub, 116 W 1st Ave, North Wildwood. The Anglesea Pub is the oldest pub in the Wildwoods, dating back to the 1890's. Today you'll find a great menu, a fine bar selection including all your Irish beer and whiskey favorites and a laid-back vibe.
8- McGettigan's 19th Hole, 500 S New York Rd, Galloway. The new owners invite you to experience the McGettigan's 19th Hole. After a long day on the golf course, relax at McGettigan’s 19th Hole with a brew and a delicious meal. Known for their wings, tails and Irish favorites.
