With earnings coming in below expectations, Southwest Airlines has decided to stop flying out of Newark Liberty Airport. The airline will continue to operate out of LaGuardia and Philadelphia.

The last flight out of Newark will be Sunday, November 3rd. The 125 Southwest employees that work at Newark airport will be offered positions at LaGuardia Airport, and they will be able to bid on other open positions.

The APP offered up this list of other low-cost airlines that are still flying out of Jersey:

Frontier Airlines

Spirit Airlines

Allegiant Air Airlines

JetBlue Airways Airlines

Virgin America Airlines

My wife and I usually take Frontier or Spirit when we go to Florida, and usually fly out of AC or Trenton. Newark Airport is a hell-hole, and the only time I go is when my mother flies (via Southwest) to visit my sister in Arizona. Looks like I'll be taking her to Philly from now on.
