South Jersey Police Issue Alert for Another Phone Scam

Police in Stafford Township have issued an alert for a popular phone scam that has resurfaced.

In this one, the scammers call and say there is a warrant out for your arrest and tell you to call a specific phone number where they can take care of the warrant quickly...for a price.

The phone number they give to call may appear to be a local number - a favorite trick of the scammers - but the person calling is not with the police.

Obviously, it would not be a good idea to give these scammers money or a credit card number over the phone, but it happens. Good people are duped on a regular basis.
