So You Think New Jersey Has The Christmas Spirit?
We walk the Christmas walk and talk the Christmas talk here at the Jersey Shore. We think we are beacons of Christmas spirit, right? Well, at least we think we are, but a new report has recently come out that might bring out the Garden Stage Scrooge in you.
It turns out that New Jersey, the home of Bruce's version of Santa Claus I Comin' To Town, is 2021's #12 state for Christmas spirit, but it's the definition of spirit that's the big question here.
The website that crunched the numbers and provided the results was Finder, and what they found (see what I did there) was interesting because it was solely based on charitable contributions, Google searches for Christmas items and songs, and holiday spending.
We all know we probably spend the most, and I would venture to say donate the most as well, so that pretty much leaves Googling. So not searching online for Christmas stuff drops us out of the Christmas spirit top 10? Bah humbug.
I'm going to stick by my beloved state here. There are no more generous people than the ones right here at the Jersey Shore. And when we're not donating our money, we are damn well spending it.
But I'm not going to let this aggravate me. That's not the trust Christmas spirit, and since we're already twelfth, I don't want to drop us down any lower. But I will say this, with as Jersey of an accent as I can muster up. I think we got robbed here.
So, fine folks of Jersey, just Google more, and maybe we'll be top 10 next year. In the meantime, have a nice Christmas. I'd say merry, but I apparently just don't have the spirit.
