Meet Narwhal, the puppy who has a tail on his head.

The rescue dog, who's been officially dubbed "Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn," has an extra tail growing out from its forehead and quickly became the internet's newest obsession because of his adorable uniqueness. He was named after the species of whale known for possessing a large "tusk" from its canine tooth.

Narwhal was originally found abandoned in the Kansas City area and was taken to Mac’s Mission, an animal shelter in Missouri that focuses on "special needs" dogs who may need extra care due to abuse and injury.

On the rescue service’s Instagram page, they answered everyone's burning question: Is it connected and does it wag? "The extra tail is not connected to anything and has no real use other than making him the COOLEST PUPPY EVER!" they wrote. "The unicorn face tail does not bother Narwhal, and he never slows down just like any normal puppy.”

They also confirmed "there is no real reason at this time for the unicorn tail to be removed" and that other than "some usual puppy worms," which he was treated for, Narwhal seems completely healthy.

“Right now he is pretty much the most unique amazing example of what we do here and we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of his journey,” the shelter added. “Thank you everyone for helping us help them!”

You can see photos of Narwhal and his very unique head-tail in the photos, below:

There's also a video of little Narwhal playing with a toy:

TMZ reports the shelter has received hundreds of adoption applications for him, but its founder, Rochelle Steffen, doesn't want to let him go right away in fear that people want to adopt him for the wrong reasons. She told the outlet "they're halting the application process for at least two months."

Steffen added that they want to keep him and let him get bigger to also make sure his tail won't have any negative effects on his health. They'll then put him back up for adoption and vet any and all prospective candidates.

It is believed he's a Dachshund-terrier mix with perhaps some golden retriever in him and is about 10 weeks old. Whatever breed Narwhal maybe, he's truly the most special dog we've ever seen.
