Police Identify Body Found in Car in Salem River

The victim was a woman reported missing six years ago.

On Friday around 12 p.m., police in pulled a submerged vehicle from Salem River with a body inside. It turned out to be Vanessa Smallwood of Maple Shade. She was reportedly discovered by commercial divers who were removing debris from river near W. Broadway Road.

Smallwood was last seen at a dry cleaner in Cherry Hill on January 27, 2014, according to Courier Post.

There doesn't seem to be any confirmation if the vehicle pulled from Salem River was Smallwood's Chrysler Town and Country van.
