Plans for a new supermarket for Atlantic City residents, will finally see the light of day in the new year.

It's been 14 years since the doors to a supermarket were open for business in Atlantic City. That's all about to change since plans are now underway to break ground for the city's first supermarket since 2004 according to the Press of Atlantic City.

According to the story, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority hopes to break ground for the new project sometime in 2019 with the hopes of opening a new supermarket sometime in 2019 or 2020. The proposed site would possibly be on Baltic Avenue near the AC Convention Center.

No word yet on what supermarket chain would possibly open for business once again in Atlantic City.
